Boy dies in four-wheeler accident

BARROW -- An 11-year-old boy died Saturday from injuries suffered in a four-wheeler accident, according to the North Slope Borough Police Department.

The victim was identified as Leo Kaleak.

Police officers and emergency services personnel found the boy unresponsive and without a pulse when they arrived. They attempted to resuscitate him and continued the efforts as he was transported to Samuel Simmonds Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Borough officials said the boy was not wearing a helmet.

The accident occurred on a beach on the northern edge of Barrow.
